Yuppies (Cliques)

Yuppies (1983)

Collection: AJV
Category: Cliques
Collector's notes: Currently mocked by all, the yuppie was considered the ideal of success for some in the '80s. Short for "young upwardly-mobile professional", the yuppie was usually a Baby Boomer out of college finally making a name for themselves in the financial world. Always up to date on the latest trends, yuppie attire consisted of power dressing, walking shoes, and block phones. Word of advice: if one asks if you like Huey Lewis and the News, its best to just run like hell.

Tom Cruise (TV & Movies)

Tom Cruise (1983)

Collection: AJV
Category: TV & Movies
Collector's notes: Whether you love him or hate him, Tom Cruise is without a doubt, one of the most popular movie stars of the late 20th to early 21st centuries. Tom gained stardom by sliding in his undies to Bob Seger's "Old Time and Rock and Roll" in the teen comedy "Risky Business". Since then, Cruise has had a series of hit movies like "Top Gun", "Rain Man", "Born on the Fourth of July" and others into the 1990s. Unforunately, over the past 5 years, Tom's eccentric personal life has gotten more attention than his acting chops. His public involvement with Scientology, to marrying much younger actress Katie Holmes has made Cruise not only a worldwide celebrity, but a tabloid target.
